THERMANA LASKO: WHERE EUROPE MEETS AYURVEDA

When we think to a Wellness the first words that pop up into our minds is pampering ourselves.

We go to a Wellness to pamper ourselves and relax, but the Wellness Thermana Lasko has something more: you have the opportunity to reconnect to your spiritual part as well, with their ayurvedic programs.

What exactly is ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a system of Hindu traditional medicine whose technics include the use of herbal medicines, mineral or metal supplementation, surgical techniques, opium, and application of oil by massages.

Ayurveda treats in a holistic way, it teaches you how to live in harmony with nature and helps you live a healthy life. It covers all aspects of health, as it promotes physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.

My first encounter with the ayurvedic philosophy took place in Lasko, at the Thermana Lasko Wellness.

After a regenerating morning session of yoga with our personal trainer Pradeep, and a big breakfast, I couldn’t resist but trying the ayurvedic program!

The ayurvedic program starts with a visit with a real ayurvedic doctor.

Doct. Ajith introduced me to the base principles of ayurveda, according to which all physical and mental/spiritual functions in our body are lead by three basic forces called doshas: Vata – energy of movement (formed by space and air), Pitta – the principle of digestive processes or metabolism, transformation of matter into energy (formed by fire and water) and Kapha – energy of structure (formed by water and earth). When the doshas are in ratio, a person is healthy.

It’s sounds like a very mystical point of view but it’s based on very logical concepts: for example, doct. Ajith found an anomaly in my Pitta. In my case, he suggested not to drink after the meals, as pouring water on the fire of our digestion would extinguish it.

As you can see it’s a very mystical way to explain and resolve a clinical issue, and it’s proven that drinking water during and immediately after the meals weaken the effects of stomach acids.

After the visit with doct. Ajith I decided to fully embrace ayurvedic philosophy, which goes along very well to my actual vegetarian and natural lifestyle.

But the best part is yet to come!

After the visit I met Somiya, the ayurvedic massage expert, which pampered me with oils and scents for more than one hour during my ayurvedic massage session.

At the end of the ayurvedic massage, you can relax in the Wellness dedicated relax area, and enjoy a cup of ayurvedic tea before continuing your day at Thermana Lasko! :)

The whole ayurveda team at Thermana Lasko come from Kerala, in India, where ayurveda itself is said to be born, and it’s one of the best ayurvedic centers in Europe.
