15 May WHAT TO DO IN ATHENS: VIEW FROM LYCABETTUS HILL Posted at 19:03h in Travel blog, What to do by Pamela Goding 3 Comments Share Getting to Lycabettus hill was already on top of my list of things to do in Athens when planning the trip. You are well aware by now of my great passion for landscapes Lycabettus hill is the highest point in Athens, which surrounds it entirely, and from it you can enjoy a breathtaking view over all the city’s neighborhoods, including Pireaus, the port, and the shadows of some of the islands in front of it in clear days. On top of the hill there’s a cafeteria, a very classy restaurant with an amazing terrace, and even a stunning hotel! There’s also a cute little orthodox church, inside which me and my boyfriend lighted a candle as a memory of our visit on top of Athens! beautiful views of the Parthenon my pictures are so foggy cause I hadn’t taken photography classes yet and was using ISO up to 1600 in the middle of the day… -_- cafeteria and Horizontes Restaurant if you’d like to propose to your globetrotting girlfriend, do it from here! If she doesn’t answer it’s cause she’s still speechless from the view 😀 we weren’t the only ones enjoying the view Getting to Lycabettus hill is easy and fun. Forget hiking equipment and swetty foreheads, all you need to do is get yourself to Aristippou Street, by feet or taking the metro, and get the funicular that takes you on top of the hill. To get to Aristippou Street we wandered through beautiful park Syngrou, and through Dexameni and Kolonaki neighborhoods, both among the wealthiest spots in town. The funicular costs 7,00 EUR one way and it takes very little to get on top! On the way back, we didn’t take it. We chose to get down by feet instead, walking through the beautiful park that surrounds the hill, and getting delightfully lost in the neighboorhood full of orange trees and white houses just beneath it before finding our way home again. way down from Lycabettus hill I’m lost.. who cares! I’m in Athens! views of Kolonaki neighborhood Have you ever been to Athens? What else did you do?
