13 Apr BEST SOUVENIR FROM BLED Posted at 20:02h in Travel blog, What to do by Pamela Goding 4 Comments Share I’m not a fan of souvenirs. Actually, I’m not a fan of objects in general. If I have to get or give something, I prefer it to be something more valuable, such time, love, memories.. Although sometimes these two concepts go together. When we walked around the castle of Bled we accidentally stumbled upon a wine cellar. We didn’t have time to admire the walls full of bottles and other cool trinkets that a garrulous monk came after us starting to tell stories about every single gadget inside the cellar. He explained to us everything about local wines, and made us taste a very good one from a barrel, telling us how we could bottle the wine ourselves. We really liked the idea, also cause it involved corking and waxing the bottle ourselves, and a certificate! I got a lot of fun bottling my first bottle of wine, and no wonder, my dad loves red wine, so he got the bottle! We spent 18 EUR for the wine, and they were totally worth it! A special mention goes to Andre the monk. This lively and humorous guy (which we suspected was an actor, but didn’t ask 😉 ) made us spend a good half an hour entertaining us in his funny (but very good!) italian, sharing a lot of interesting thing about Slovenia and its wines! A must do!
